Digital strawberries: ‘’Connected smart hydroponic system‘’ as a cross-reality lab
‘Take care of your strawberries at the click of a mouse’ – nevertheless, harvesting them is still a manual process.
...and learn how sensors and actuators work, how to record sensor data autonomously via radio signals, visualise it online and analyse the data.
Recognise the connections and dependencies between the ‘real measurement object’ itself and the influences of its surroundings/environment using the example of a networked hydroponic system (indoor farming 4.0).
The cross-reality lab is an ideal setting for interdisciplinary learning, not only facilitating the learning process but also offering tangible, future-proof and sustainable solutions for global challenges such as climate change and nutrition. As a reward for your ‘active care of the plants’, you can then share your pesticide-free strawberries with your team members. You then pass on your experience to the next semester.
Technical Realisation
The objective of this project is to plan, develop and evaluate a cross-institutional and multidisciplinary cross-reality learning and research platform for digital learning, teaching and research. The focus will be on wireless sensors and actuators for industry and agriculture 4.0 and the IoT.
