CrossLab - Project Meeting in Ilmenau

From September 21, 2022 to September 23, 2022, the third joint project meeting of CrossLab was held at TU Ilmenau. The partners of the joint project, which is funded by the “Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre”, have come together to follow up on their work on developing digital laboratory training, technically implementation and didactically approaches. The partners from TU Ilmenau (host of the meeting), NORDAKADEMIE in Elmshorn, TU Bergakademie Freiberg as well as TU Dortmund aim for remotely combinable laboratories and experiments which can be used from different locations.

On day one, we first exchanged information regarding the current project status at each location. This was followed by a wonderful tour through the Ilmenau labs, which concentrated on existing remote labs and those under construction. The tour ended in a lively discussion around potential new laboratories, the sharing of laboratories across the different campuses, as well as open discussions on potential for optimization.

After this successful morning we presented our project CossLab for the first time to our Advisory Board, which consists of members from industry and research covering even a part of the globe, from Georgia, US, via Bilbao Spain to Leipzig, Germany. We were delighted with the exchange of ideas and constructive feedback.

On the second day, a final workshop session was conducted, which focused on the exchange of labs between the different locations. In this context, the first clear agreements were made and thus a virtual lab from one partner will be part of a lecture at another location. And so, the CrossLab partners set off to the respective locations to work on their updated plans, as well as to disseminate and discuss previous findings from CrossLab at international conferences.
